Adam "Live at Human Dog Bar 2000.8.26" CDR $4.00 "Live 'improvised analog electronics' from this enigmatic video artist and Neon Inn member. Two identical CDRs are included, apparently to play in two CD players simultaneously (or to have one to pass on to a friend?). Very playful synthy swirls, chirps, and burbles abound in the all-too-short 24 minutes presented here. Performed live at the 'Human Dog Bar' in August of 2000. Intriguing and difficult to classify." - Monica. though originally released as a double CDR with two copies of the same disc, this is only a single disc in a plastic bag with an insert. Brume & Artificial Memory Trace "1st Encounter" CD $7.00 "1st Encounter was completed in 1996 and is part of an ongoing series of releases by Artificial Memory Trace. The sound on this particular installment is as one would expect given the backgrounds of the two artists: a mixture of electro-acoustic and concrète sounds. The two artists are forced to create their music using the other's music as the principle source material, and it really changes both of their sounds quite a bit. Often people think of collaborations in the same sense as split records, but this is not a split release. There is really is a good sense of the interplay between AMT and Brume. It is difficult to classify the works of these two gifted composers, because their work is clearly void of the academic rigidness that defines much of the electro-acoustic scene. There also seems to be a greater flexibility in terms of sounds being employed and more freedom to really let loose in terms of intensity. 1st Encounter is packaged exquisitely in a digipak with full color artwork and is a limited edition and will not be repressed." - label description. hole punched in cover panel. alien8 recordings (Canada) ALIENCD26

Hallicrafters CD $7.00 "From the folks who brought you Runaway Mind Train comes Hallicrafters, a Texas duo of Brian Locklin on guitars, piano, keyboards, and rhumba, and Wes French on table guitar, analog synths, and effects. The music is like a cross between Tangerine Dream and Phillip Glass. Floating ambient electronica that develops slowly, setting somewhat minimalist patterns that bubble, throb, and lull the listener into a valium-like trance. The duo's trademark, and the music's strength, is their ability to create hypnotizing patterns that include a single brain piercing standout sound that stops short of being painful or annoying. Rather, these sounds function as aural mantras that command the listener's attention, the mantra sounds leading the way through the music's subtle textural journey." - Jerry Kranitz from Aural Innovations #10 (June 2000) Digipak. Triangle Mallet Apron Records (U.S.) TMA CD02

Hansadutta Swami "Nothing To Lose But All To Gain" LP $5.00 born in Germany and a major force in the Hare Krishna movement in 1970s, Hansdutta recorded at least two albums. this 1978 release features him on guitar vocals backed by others Krishnas on bass guitar, violin and drums. the album consists of 5 long songs with a country tinge and has been compared to a more aimless Syd Barrett. the titles are "The Holy Name", "In Fear of Thee the Wind Blows", "Most Weird Abode", "Seeing God Is Not So Easy" and "Helpless Awe", two of which were written by Bhaktivinode Thakur. the front cover is a full sized photo of the swami's head and is actually a little ominous. in fact, Hansadutta was later kicked out of ISKCON [The International Society of Krisha Consciousness] and there are rumors of various violent episodes. at the time of this record, Hansadutta was in the midst of it though and even gives thanks on the back cover to Johnny Cash, Roy Clark, Richie Havens, Alice Coltrane, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley for their contributions to Hare Krishna projects. the cover is still in the shrink and in excellent condition, however the vinyl sadly has a couple of nasty looking scratches on the first track. these cause some crackle on that piece though the rest of the record plays pretty quietly. Hansa Associates Production (U.S.) HAP-1

The debut album, Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites, favors late 60's / early 70's pastoral English folk influences, rural American blues, heavy psychedelic elements and modernist drone to create this critically acclaimed and wholly unique modern classic. At times, the music recalls the finer moments of bands like the Pentangle, Incredible String Band, Steeleye Span and the playing of giants like Jansch, Bull and Fahey, but does so completely with it's own voice. Teleform "Cosine ƒ" CD $7.00 "6-Page Digipak. The new release of Teleform/Bernd Schurer is a maybe-statement of musical deconstructivism: Nonlinear but never circular, hazy flicker of disembodied sounds, ghostly forming secret melodies. a jar of hard drives buzzing lonesome tunes. frigid yet delicate or soft. The tracks (35 total), untitled and unnumbered, anonymous, each having its own tiny time of life could as well just be shuffled randomly by the listeners CD player, forming its own curious and wonder-filled musical dialects on each listen. A lot on this CD seems to be full of doubt, because it is not trusting the compositional approach of linearity nor may it leave everything off to the machine... cleave compositions: left to you? still tough: Teleform: the gritty digi-blues. Cosine ƒ is the second release of Teleform on domizil." - label description. domizil (Switzerland) domizil16
